An introductory exhibition text to an exhibition showcasing a series of photography works experimenting with materiality movement and space

As part of the BusanMOCA Platform Ingredients Mining 2023, Collecting the Future takes an interdisciplinary approach to documenting the changing microclimate and ecosystem of Busan and translating it into an intuitive experience. Whilst the climate crisis and changes in biodiversity are indisputable, they can appear ungraspable as the changes happen gradually on an extensive worldwide scale. The project aims to transform these accumulated yet somewhat veiled changes into a tangible immediate experience. The team collects microclimate data from multiple locations across the city, analyses the data, converts the data into numeric values and inputs them to operate the installation piece. Along with the visualisation display of the climate data, the palpable installation invites the visitors to physically navigate the work and observe changes.
